Professional Background
Frank Watkins is a veteran market professional, technical analysis specialist, and CEO of Pro Trader Pty Ltd, bringing more than five decades of direct market experience to his work with Mastering the Markets. Frank first entered the Australian share market during the historic Poseidon Boom of 1969 and was heavily involved through the Gold Boom of 1979–1980, remaining actively engaged in markets ever since across equities, commodities, and global derivatives markets.
Frank began his professional broking career in Adelaide in 1986, specialising in commodity markets before returning to Western Australia to operate his own successful commodity broking firm. During this period, he also began delivering formal investor education through the Securities Institute of South Australia, beginning a parallel education career that continues today. Frank has managed international “night desks” with direct access to global trading floors, giving him firsthand exposure to institutional-level market activity and global market flows.
In 1998, Frank founded Pro Trader Pty Ltd, where he pioneered market software innovation, including one of the first successful Darvas Box scanning integrations and a world-first integrated Trade Planner tool designed to help traders structure and manage trades systematically. He has been a regular speaker for the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA), Society of Technical Analysts New Zealand (STANZ), and Australian Investors Association (AIA), and has delivered lectures at the ASX across multiple Australian capital cities as well as the Singapore Exchange.

Frank’s teaching philosophy is built on one core principle: keep markets simple, structured, and disciplined. Drawing on more than 50 years of real market experience, he focuses on helping traders remove unnecessary complexity and concentrate on the core drivers of price movement, market timing, and disciplined trade execution.
He is a strong advocate of technical analysis as a decision-making framework and emphasises that timing market participation is critical to long-term success. Frank teaches traders how to structure trades before entering the market, manage risk systematically, and approach markets with professional-level preparation rather than reactive decision-making. His goal is to help traders develop clarity, confidence, and consistency through simple, proven market frameworks grounded in decades of real trading experience.
